Thanks for visiting my UA-cam channel! A little about me and what I do - retired from the USAF after 21 years of service. I own a suburbia house in Oklahoma and enjoy creating videos showing my DIY projects and inspiring others. I am formally trained/educated in communications-electronics systems, journalism, engineering, and maintenance management.
My videos lean toward showing others my home solar power systems and how to build them --maintenance and optimization. I also do product reviews, tool demonstrations, computer/product testing, "how to" videos, and sometimes food related videos (like solar cooking). Occasionally, I will create a video for pure fun -- goofy and politically incorrect. And always stay tuned for those crazy Oklahoma weather and lousy driving videos!

Cats play fighting -- too funny not to share!
Переглядів 1989 годин тому
Candy (the kitten) and Carla really enjoy each other. I am so thankful they get along. They will play, chase each other, attack, pounce, growl, hiss, and then lie down and lovingly lick each other (and then go to sleep). Carla (the tuxedo cat) really took her new little sister in with open paws. Never a dull moment around here.
DIY simple (and cheap) tweeter crossovers explained -- how I wire up my Bluetooth speakers

There has been many asking for schematics and parts breakdown for my DIY made portable Bluetooth speakers. Hopefully, this explanation helps others how to get a decent (and low cost) custom tweeter crossover for your projects. This example is about as simple as it gets and not audiophile high-end crossover engineering designed with high dollar test equipment. IMHO, trust your ears the best test...
Sciatica pain? Hard to walk? Try these BEACTIVE acupressure compression straps (with modifications!)

When I first got these, I was marginally impressed. NOW, after I added a couple 2" felt stick-on pads and learned to wear this correctly, it takes 90-95% of the sciatica pain away. When I get up from bed, start walking around...within minutes the sciatica pain is 9/10. I put this on and the pain is almost 100% gone (takes about 30 seconds!). Maxon Performance 12v fan for my Outback Power VFXR 3648 solar power inverter

The only thing I don't like about this fan it is pretty dern loud. But, rather have my inverter working and cooled down vs it shutting off due to overtemperature faults. The fan is blowing upwards (sucking the hot air out of the inverter). I have seen it lower the temps by 30F. How long dose the battery last?
Do you ever sale your stuff or make custom orders?
No. I have given some away to close friends and family. Traded one for some house work (painter). These are too expensive to make/sell. People don't want to spend the amount I would require. There is a guy here on UA-cam that makes/sells them custom. I make mine because I want the best-of-rest with real power and bass. I make them because I enjoy it, the challenge. Most other DIY boomboxes you see here on YT suck. To each their own...
Hi, how has this Intex brand held up over the years? Any issues?
Wow, it worked in about 10 minutes after the plunger didn't. I'm grateful this video is still up 4 years later.
Thanks. Mines took forever to fill beyond 70% and couldn't figure out why. Now it makes sense..... Thanks....
CoolBeans...glad this helped. Mine is running good as of today. Calcium scaling is horrible tho. Really would like some kind of garden hose water softener/filtering system for it. Cleaning off the white calcium build up with Lime Away or CLR works, but a PITA.
Visited every year as a kid in the 50's and 60's. My great aunt had a house and cabins just the next block east of the state park. So many happy memories!
Uh huh.
I can honestly say, after living around people and pergolas in four states, I have never heard it pronounced that way lol
bass on brother no cap
Good stuff
🎉
Keep it up sir I did mine and I’m skeptical about what else I might add cause the 6x9s I used hits really hard and don’t want to add anything that might rattle or vibrate loose lol
Can yoy connect to solar directly
Awwwwwww
Did you use that 47 Ohm resistor in addition to that Capacitor? I used 33 Ohm Resistors in front of tweeters, and it sounded good.. I'm not understanding the Capacitors role, and where it is wired in that box.. seems like they are both knocking the power down, so is the Resistor and Capacitor just two different options for achieving the reduction in power? Thanks!
Short answer...yes. The resistor knocks down the power (wattage) going to the tweeter. The capacitor is a "filter" per se...filters out freqs below ~1,000 Hz in this application (4-ohms). So, yes, the capacitor knocks levels down by reducing lower frequencies from damaging it...a poor man's crossover that many people use. However, a tweeter can still sound "hot" even with just a capacitor. The resistor is what really decreases the total power (SPL, wattage) going to the tweeter to help balance it's output to the full output of the woofer. Each setup out there is unique...you just have to play around with resistors and capacitors to find the "sweet spot" that sounds best to you.
Tech me up! I'm ready!
Hahaaa! I just wanted to keep things as simple as possible without requiring a degree in electronics and $50,000 in test equipment to explain. Bottom line, ones ears are the best judge of quality. Man, you should hear this greenBooger in action...totally all there. Got some Triumph (Allied Forces) jamming right now...sounds butteryBadazz.

Many of those high watt usb-c chargers you can charge a Laptop or Macbook with come with some wires and a fuse as designed for 12 volt vanlifers, RVers and such. Yours looks like it should have come with a fuse setup. The cigarette lighter plug type has more moving parts, just more mechanically tricky and more likely to breakdown, so the fuse and wire type are good. I just anchor a solar panel thru my auto battery with a cheap pwm lead acid charge controller (glue gun glue to the wiring ports). I already have the auto battery and putting solar through it is not only good battery maintenance, the resistance the auto battery provides makes it safer for my electronics getting charged off the solar panel. Both the battery and the charge controller regulate the voltage down some. It ends when the sun starts sliping away or there goes your car battery, though: not a deep cycle battery! You could just use a Buck converter type thing to lower the voltage a little instead (of the battery) and that should make it safer. Sure, the usb-c charger thing should be doing converting, but. . . Does that display on the charger really mean 19 VOLTS? Because shouldn't volts be regulated to 5 volts or closer to 12 volts? Does it say WATTS, maybe? Or is it the input? I guess they do claim to work at 24 volts sometimes. I am shopping for one of those chargers right now and don't have one in front of me just right this minute. Also, 10 years old is not an old solar panel: those have 25 year warranties and usually work beyond that if it is a quality panel.
Would you be willing to share your build parts list and skimatics? I have seen other boxes like this built but not with a sub. I want this box! Thanks and awsome work.
I ended up buying one of these units and its working great so far. Power draw is as low as 60W (HTPC server and my network equipment) and as high as 400W (projector on and sound system turned up relatively loud). Handles power interruption perfectly in both loadings. Also looks nice in the rack.

its a shame you do not get more, great channel. i have been a sub sinse the old solar roller green wooden box :D at the moment i make just over 5GBP from you tube lol
Thanks for watching...appreciate it! YT has been disappointing and not very fruitful. People tend to want drama, smut, shock treatment, etc. Some, genuinely want to learn by what others do. Here's the kicker with DIY and "How To" channels -- there are NO bad videos out there. One can learn how to do something (or be helped) by NOT doing what they see on a video. In other words -- you may not agree with the video (or even dislike it) and perhaps think the presenter is complete moron. But, in the end it actually DID help you (perhaps, by showing you what not to do). See my point? At this crossroads, I don't make enough monitized content to care either way, people are mostly fickle and want cheap stimulation. There are plenty of YT channels out there making $50,000 USD a month giving cheap thrills for their followers. And YT is the vessel supporting it all.
Unistrut is the way to go. So much cheaper than the specialty racks and rails that solar companies sell. I guess it makes sense to go with a known system for a roof mount, but for a ground mount like this it is a no-brainer.
Agree. It is like being a kid again and playing with an Erecter Set building these DIY solar projects
Good to know..thanks. I have been wearing a back brace for a few hours helps alot. Lots of walking helps. Keep moving
Feel better. I do need to walk more. However, with sciatica...can be difficult. With this brace on, much easier. I didn't mention in this video that people wearing these can also sleep with it on and also do work outs...it doesn't really affect agility. I just hope this video helps at least one person out. A million views would be nice too.
@ChrisDIYerOklahoma I hope alot of views to...ty the infonis good to have..old age sucks..lol..thanks for the wrll wishes
white stuff calcium build up
👍 some water softeners can take that calcium out I picked up a used one
I've researched this box and they have a standard ported and a ported SPL box. I'm not the best at this stuff. Is there anyone that can tell me what the difference between the two boxes are. The only thing I can see is The port looks like it's got a reinforcement in it. The price difference is maybe 10-15 dollars. Wasn't sure which one I should get.
Both are very good enclosures. From their website, it says the SPL is tuned to 44Hz and the AR1X10V is tuned to 38Hz. They say the SPL has more "bass output". It really depends on your placement if you need the port on the side or front firing. I prefer front firing, but that doesn't mean it's better. Lastly, the Kerf (curved) porting on the AR1X10V helps reduce huff/chuff IMHO. I have their larger 15" Kerf loaded ones and there is some huff/chuff at 1,000+ watts....but, at that level, things are wicked loud. With the 10" ones, I don't hear any of that (same Kerf port). So, it really depends on look/functionality/fitment. I own three of their 10" boxes and all are very good quality...happy with their sound/output
@@ChrisDIYerOklahoma thank you soooo much for the reply 🙏🙏 I'll be grabbing one Monday. Your the best ❤️❤️❤️
I use a 5 watt solar panel trickle charger in my shed for my lawn mower, I used to replace my battery about every three years, but since I put the trickle charger on it my battery has lasted since 2019.
Looks good, nice work.
Thanks. It is holding up nicely since the redo.

Nice....TY for making these videos.
Nothing fake here...thanks.
Thank you, sir, for being an inspiration to another tech. I remember who my Vice President is. LMAO!
Thanks...all that goofy maintenance stuff we did as techs. It's a wonder how the planes stayed in the air sometimes. Seen my fair share of magic fairy dust fixes.
Brilliant. Love the ingenuity.
I needed a fan with some actual balls...this one has it. The airflow is stout. The inverter hasn't gone into protection mode (high temps) since running it.
I am going to do a similar setup with two 8" kicker marine speakers and pair it with a 20V dewalt battery. The bluetooth amp I am going to use is 12-36v and 160 amps*2. Should I get a voltage amplifier to increase my voltage/wattage to the speakers? I am new to this.
My 2-cents...might consider using the 24v Kobalt lithium battery and pigtail wire adapter. Those 4-volts make a fair amount of difference. I use a 12/24-36v step up booster with my 20v DeWalt batteries. Have fun making this beast!
Could we make this run off Milwaukee batteries?
I use DeWalt (20v) and Kobalt (24v) batteries in my other speaker builds. So, the short answer is yes if done correctly
